2008 Illinois Law-Related Education Conference

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
CRFC's annual conference features over 20 teacher workshops on legal and political issues, interactive teaching methods, and innovative materials for the classroom. Participants can attend dynamic workshops featuring nationally recognized presenters, exchange ideas with colleagues from throughout the state, and take back free resource materials. Keynote Speaker
Diana E. Hess is an associate professor of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she teaches courses for undergraduate and graduate students in social studies education, social studies research, and democratic education. Since 1998 she has been researching what young people learn from deliberating highly controversial political and legal issues in schools. A nationally recognized speaker, Dr. Hess also develops and teaches professional development programs for teachers, school administrators, and lawyers in the US and other nations. She is currently writing a book on the importance of controversial issues in schools that will be published later in 2008.

LRE TEACHERS OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Each year CRFC recognizes two outstanding law-related education teachers at the conference. The Edward J. Lewis II Award for Illinois Law-Related Education Elementary School Teacher Of The Year commemorates the late Edward J. Lewis II, a partner at the law firm of Jenner & Block who chaired CRFC's Lawyer Advisory Board. The Barbara O'Donnell Award for Illinois Law-Related Education High School Teacher Of The Year commemorates the late Barbara O'Donnell, former coordinator of the Career Development Center for Law and Justice at Lincoln Park High School in Chicago. CONFERENCE SITE
Set on a wooded 80-acre campus, Hamburger University in Oak Brook is a renowned training facility for McDonalds managers and owners worldwide.

REGISTRATION
To register for the conference, click here for the Registration Form. Early Registration is $75.00 and must be received by August 31. Regular registration is $100.00 and is open until October 17. Registration fee MUST accompany registration form and is non-refundable.
